Everyclick is a website that has created a number of ways to help charities fundraise online. As well as Give as you Live you can also set up a personal online fundraising page. You can use these pages to collect donations for Operation Orphan in many different ways, limited only by your imagination. For example they are most often used for sponsored events such as marathons or bicycle rides but can also be used as a means of collecting donations that are not sponsorship.
It is really simple to set up an Everyclick page, even if you only have basic computing skills, and it can make fundraising for Operation Orphan very simple and hassle free. It will take about five minutes to register and create a basic page. You can then personalise your page as much as you want with photos, video and text. There are some handy tips below to give you a helping hand!
To set up a page visit http://www.everyclick.com/fundraising/fundraising-pages and click on 'Create a Page'. Then just follow the instructions on the screen. If you have any problems there is lots of help on the website or contact us at Operation Orphan.
People can donate to Operation Orphan via your page with any major credit or debit card. They can also leave messages on your page to accompany their donation. Everyclick transfers the money to Operation Orphan every month and also automatically reclaims the Gift Aid on all eligible donations. There is a transaction fee of 4.8% on all donations made through Everyclick and you can read more about this here.
Personalise your message
The best fundraising pages tell a really good story. Let people know why you’re going to the trouble of raising money, and they’re much more likely to take the time to donate. Explain why you have chosen to support Operation Orphan. We are still quite a small charity so many of your sponsors will not have heard of us, so you need to explain why you are going to the effort of raising funds for us.
Add photos and video
A personal photo makes your page much more engaging. You can also add Youtube Videos that, along with photos will help to bring your page to life. The more interesting, compelling and imaginative the more likely your supporters are to send your page on to their friends.
Tell everyone about your page
Before you email your entire address book, ask your closest friends and family to donate first. An empty page can be a bit intimidating, so having a couple of donations on the page should encourage other sponsors. People tend to match the amounts already listed on the page, so if they’re generous ones, all the better!
Email your other contacts in groups (e.g. colleagues, running club, friends overseas, etc) personalising your message each time.
Use Facebook and Twitter!
Facebook and Twitter are a great way of drawing people’s attention to your fundraising efforts. You can simply post a link to your page, or you could create a group as another way of keeping people updated, it’s up to you!
