Teddy Bears Will Travel

So, some more exciting news to share!! A team of three set out on Sunday to begin the long journey to Ghana, accompanied by 40 knitted teddy bears!! The bears, which were kindly knitted and then donated by a group of residents in some of Spirita’s sheltered housing schemes, are travelling in comfort, each inside an individual hand-made drawstring bag in one of the team’s suitcases. The team plan to distribute the bears to the children receiving treatment in the nutrition centre near Tamale in Northern Ghana when they visit the centre as part of their trip. This trip will also include some exploratory work around the development of our response to the malnourishment of orphans and vulnerable children across Africa.

All of us at Operation Orphan would like to say a big thank you to the Spirita residents involved and we look forward to posting photos of the children receiving the bears in due course… so watch this space!!
