Update from the Referral Team

After a year of working for Waste Nott Want Nott (our bulky waste collection and recycling service) as ‘Recycling Team Supervisor’, Dan is now a part of the Forget-Me-Notts’ referral team. Dan answered a few questions about his time so far which you can read more about below!

How are you finding being a part of the referral team?

‘Overall, it’s been a really positive experience; I enjoy organizing the warehouse and the face-to-face interaction with the families we support while on referrals. It’s been really impactful working on the frontlines.’

What’s been your best referral experience so far?

‘A few weeks ago, we installed a double bed/mattress and a single bed/mattress into one household. Mum had been sleeping on the floor for a year and was really emotional and grateful to be receiving a bed.’

What’s been your most challenging referral experience so far?

‘One of the first ones; there was 6 kids in 1 house so space was very tight. Their beds were moldy and on the floor. The house was messy, and overall, it was a really difficult living environment.’

What are you looking forward to?

‘Continuing to make a positive impact on the families we’re supporting: learning practical skills. Speaking with families and showing them kindness and respect while out on referrals and making sure they know their community hasn’t forgotten them. Last but certainly not least, making the children smile.’ 😊
