Crisis Response FAQs
What does Operation Orphan do?
o Operation Orphan supports orphaned and vulnerable children around the world (including the UK) by working with local partners to keep children warm, safe, healthy and learning. All of Operation Orphan’s UK core admin is underwritten by corporate sponsorship (Danbro & Media Collective). This means that no donation money is spent on things like printer ink, and every penny we receive in donations goes directly towards strengthening the children’s care structure.
What is the Crisis Response Team?
o Operation Orphan’s Crisis Response Team is made up of specialist, dedicated volunteers who deploy to identify children who have been orphaned by an event or natural disaster. The goal is to ensure the safety of these children in the immediate aftermath of the crisis and ensure they are connected to a safe, support network long term. Previous deployments include Cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe in 2019, the Ukraine refugee crisis in Moldova in 2022, and earthquakes in Turkey in 2023. You can find out more about the team’s work and previous deployments on our website: www.operation-orphan.org
What is the team doing now?
o The team is preparing to deploy, where they will be working with partners and/or local authorities s in-country to support children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by the disaster, responding to needs as they arise. For updates as they happen, please check our website or follow Operation Orphan on social media.
How can I help?
o At the moment, the best way to support the team’s work is financially. Operation Orphan’s 100% promise means that even a few pounds makes a huge impact on the team’s ability to identify, make safe, and keep safe children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by the disaster. Your donation will make a difference!
