We Collect and Recycle Old

Mattresses - Bed Bases - Sofas

Domestic Fridge/Freezers - TV’s - Large and Small Domestic Appliances - Wardrobes and Drawers

We currently collect within a 12 mile radius of our recycling facility in Attenborough NG9 6AA.

For collections between 12 and 17 miles from Attenborough, we charge an extra Β£15 for transport. Please call 0115 896 9942 before booking.

What do we do with the items?

Mattresses are hand stripped at our facility and EVERY component is recycled or turned into SRF which is used to manufacture cement.

Items with reuse or resale value are donated to Operation Orphan and are either given to families through Forget-Me-Notts or sold to generate funds for the charity.

End of life sofas are recycled in accordance with the new POP’s regulations.

End of life fridges and TV’s are recycled by one of the largest and most reputable electronic recycling companies.

All our recycling partners understand and support the objects of the business and contribute in their own way to help us help the children.

Waste Nott Want Nott provides mentored employment for young adults and to secure the support of orphans and vulnerable children whilst making a significant and positive impact on the environment.

The collection fee covers transport, manual and mechanical recycling costs and a small surplus for the children.

We offset our carbon by planting trees in Mutare Zimbabwe through the Sakubva River rehabilitation scheme.

Ever wondered where your old mattress ends up?

  • More than 7.3 million mattresses are disposed of in a year in the UK.

  • Currently only around 20% of these are recycled – 1.4 million.

  • That means nearly 6 million mattresses are being sent to landfill or incinerated every year.

  • Mattresses take up 10 times more landfill space compared to other wastes.

(Source: End of Life Mattress Report 2019, Oakdene Hollins and Bed Advice UK)

70% of a sprung mattress is metal. By extracting the metal, and not burying it, means the requirement to mine and process new product is reduced. Recycling the millions of sprung mattresses disposed of each year will have a sizeable impact on carbon emissions, significantly reducing the environmental impact.

WNWN offsets our carbon footprint by planting trees each year to be carbon neutral.

Occasionally an item may be re-used to fulfil a referral from social services for a vulnerable family.

Our aim is to make a significant impact on the environment and secure the long term future of orphans and the most vulnerable children around the world.

We are so grateful to IKANO Bank for believing in the vision and sponsoring our first van.
