Grant for Operation Orphan from Foresters Financial!
I have been a volunteer for Operation Orphan since 2022. It is a wonderful charity to volunteer for, as they do amazing work keeping orphans Safe, Warm, Healthy and Learning.
My activities include unpacking donations (mainly blankets), packing blankets for distribution, sending thank you letters for donations and helping at fundraising events.
I am always made to feel welcome and part of the team, but more importantly it is very rewarding.
I have savings with a company called Foresters Financial. I was successful in applying for a care grant from them for Operation Orphan and received £200.
I used the money to buy £200 worth of items from the Forget-Me-Notts Amazon wishlist.
Forget-Me-Notts are part of Operation Orphan and address bed poverty in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. This involves providing beds, mattresses, bedding and blankets to vulnerable families who don’t have beds for their children.
The items purchased were two toddler duvet and pillow sets, six pillows, five baby sleeping bags, four anti allergy single duvets, four waterproof mattress protectors, two double duvets and four cot bed sheets.
I hope that this grant will help out many local families.

As a mutual organisation Foresters Financial don't have shareholders so any profit they make is used for providing their members with the chance to apply for Community Grants.
Community Volunteer grants offer engaging, hands-on volunteer opportunities that members can use to make a difference in their local communities. The funds provided through this grant can go towards supporting a not-for-profit organisation or registered charity and help people in various ways.
If you are connected with any financial organisations that offer similar grants, we’d love you to apply for funding for Operation Orphan and Forget-Me-Notts, if it’s a local scheme.
Thank you, Carole!
