Shepherd's Success

Having completed his O Levels, Shepherd successfully completed a course in South Africa to qualify as a waiter on cruise ships. Whilst he is waiting for his visa he is working at the cafe.

Ryan Torrie, the owner of the cafe could not speak more highly of the young man and how his work ethic and humility is outstanding.

I am so proud of Shepherd because he has not let the fact that he was orphaned around the age of 13 be a hindrance in making the most of his life. He and his younger brother became part of the Children of Hope programme under Nancy Chulu. Over the years he benefited from having his school fees paid and being under the watchful, caring eye of Nancy. He also attended the Amatelaz Homework Centre in Sakubva. The combination of these two interventions meant he successfully completed his schooling and had the confidence to advance himself by doing the vocational course.

This young man is another example and reason why we support orphans in Zimbabwe. His determination and character seized the opportunity and he has made something of himself.
