Learning to Sew

The new sewing machine and overlocker donated last year have enabled Senior (pictured here) to more than double his output.

He makes anything his clients want, designing specially for them, as well as making more ordinary things like school uniforms.  It is a steady business and he hopes the economic climate of Zimbabwe will improve!

We love stories of sustainability and feel so proud of this young man. He took up a little course as part of his Amatelaz experience and from there blossomed a whole carrier path. Who would have known that a sewing lesson could lead to a job for life.

Other students have gained experience in sewing also. As uniforms are an expensive yet essential item its great for them to be able to make their own for a fraction of the cost.
