Sunshine from Congo

We were delighted to welcome Mamma Marie to our HQ in Nottingham this week.

She arrived safely from DR Congo and kindly brought the sunshine with her. Whilst in the UK she will be spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mamma Marie, together with her husband Donald, looks after 30 orphans at Hebron Home. These children have no existing relatives and are looked after full time by Donald and Marie.

Through our Keep a Child Learning initiative we are able to provide school places for each school-aged child. Those who have recently graduated from secondary school did so well, they have been offered scholarships for further education. We are so proud of them for their incredible work ethic.

The family has also set up a farm nearby to help with sustainability. They grow staple foods to see them through the year and often have enough to sell some produce. We are hoping they can find an outlet for locally selling some crops to help generate essential funds. The older children help out with harvesting the crops which is a fantastic life experience.
