Here is a reminder of what we do and why we do it!
We work with trusted partners to ensure end-of-life bulky waste is recycled properly. By properly, we mean in an environmentally responsible way - where raw materials are either used to manufacture new products or to generate energy! Our aim is to ensure nothing goes to landfill.
All of our recycling partners fully support and understand our business objectives, and in their own way, they contribute to help us help children :)
We assess all items for recycling. If anything arrives in perfect condition, it is offered to Operation Orphan’s UK project, Forget-Me-Notts, and used as donations to vulnerable families.
What makes our process environmentally friendly?
End-of-life mattresses:
We hand-strip these at our facility. The separated components are recycled and turned into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) - this is then used in cement manufacturing.
End-of-life sofas:
Are recycled in line with the new POP’s regulations. Meaning they have to be shredded and incinerated as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). Sofa’s cannot go to landfill.
End-of-life fridges and TVs:
We make sure all hazardous components are safely processed so they don’t harm the environment. These items are handled by one of the UK’s most reputable electronic recycling companies.
Wood and Metal:
We separate and recycle these materials into new products or use them as alternative energy sources.
How we do this:
We work with both domestic and commercial clients by charging a just and transparent price to collect and recycle bulky waste.
The fee we charge covers transport, operations, and recycling costs. It also includes a percentage that we donate to Operation Orphan, directly benefiting vulnerable children.
