Verified Emission Reduction Scheme

PHOTO-2021-12-13-17-38-24.jpg

About The Scheme

Waste Nott Want Nott Verified Emission Reduction Scheme allows companies in the UK to offset their carbon emissions whilst making a significant impact in the lives of orphans and the most vulnerable children. The scheme generates VER carbon credits produced by our exclusive emission reduction projects in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. These projects cover a combined area of 20 000 hectares and process 210 000t of CO2 each year. Our scheme has not been certified by official UN-backed offsetting schemes such as the Clean Development Mechanism but is independently verified by third parties. (VER’s are the voluntary market equivalent of the certified emission reductions (CERs) awarded under the CDM.)

Verification

  • Mature tree density of each forest.

    • CGG independently and annually verify the mature tree density of the area of land. This number is used to determine the number of carbon credits available and set the targets for tree planting.

  • Contracts and distribution of credits

    • Ellis Fermer and Negus solicitors have produced and verified the contracts that ensure each forest is not being used for multiple schemes

    • Ellis Fermer and Negus solicitors verify the number of credits annually available

    • Ellis Fermer and Negus solicitors sign and issue each certificate, ensuring no extra credits are sold each year.

  • Health of each forest.

    • WNWN work with the National Forestry Commission of each country to verify the following criteria:

      • Confirm the number of the fully grown indigenous trees per hectare.

      • Comment on the overall health of the fully grown indigenous trees and provide recommendations to improve their health.

      • Comment on any deforestation activity.

      • Confirm any evidence of deforestation reduction.

      • Ensure the affordable firewood scheme meets the national forestry commission growing standards.

How we work out the Emission Reduction Value for our forests

  • On average 1 fully grown tree processes 21 kg (.021t) of carbon a year.

  • Minimum density of our primary forest is 500 mature trees per hectare x 20 000 hectares x .021t CO2 per tree = 210 000 t of CO2 reduction per year = 210 000 WNWN VERC’s

  • We have set aside 10 000 WNWN VERC’s for the affordable (subsidised) firewood scheme.

  • We have 200 000 WNWN VERC’s available for companies to purchase each year to offset their CO2 emissions.

How we use the funds generated through the sale of WNWN VERC’s

Funds generated through this scheme are used for the following purposes:

  1. Maintain our forests.

  2. Plant more indigenousness trees to ensure each forest is at its optimum density.

  3. Reduce the reason for deforestation by growing and providing affordable (subsidised) firewood for the local community. The CO2 emissions generated through this are absorbed in the scheme.

  4. Educate and incentivise the local population on how to ensure the forest remains healthy.

  5. Ensure every household has at least 1 fruit tree of their choice.

  6. Ensure that all the children living in the area have access to primary and secondary education and basic healthcare

  7. 10% will be used to support the work of Operation Orphan

Value of a Waste Nott Want Nott VERC

  • 1 x WNWN VERC is worth £x

How to purchase a WNWN VERC

  1. Work out your carbon emissions. We recommend Pas 2060.

  2. Contact us to purchase your credits based on the above review.

  3. WNWN VERC’s are valid for a year and a certificate will be issued on receipt of the funds.

Evidence of exclusive contracts and supportive data are available on request.
