This trip will primarily include visits to two of our projects in Zimbabwe - for those who want to gain a real but rewarding insight into the reality of life for the vulnerable children we support there. The expedition offers the opportunity to make a real difference and leave behind a positive impact.
About the trip
The purpose of this trip is two-fold. Firstly to spend some quality time with children at our Amatelaz Homework Centre. Amatelaz provides support for orphans, who don’t receive this kind of help at home. The centre offers help with homework, curriculum-based revision and the opportunity to strengthen their English language skills in a safe and supervised environment. Participants in this trip will spend time with the children to help them with their English reading and conversational skills which is vitally important to their learning.
The second part of the trip involves travelling to Chimanimani to visit the children orphaned by Cyclone Idai in March 2019. Following the devastation of the cyclone, our Crisis Response Team deployed to identify, make safe, and keep safe children who had been orphaned by the disaster. As a result of the deployment, the team were able to identify 18 orphans who have been welcomed into the Operation Orphan family.
