Thank you to All Our Crafters!
We just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all the crafters around the country who make and send us blankets to use in our projects.
It always so lovely to see such variety in the blankets we receive either through the post or that are dropped off at our office. These blankets are a vital part of what we do and are used across so many of our projects. Not only do they help keep the children who receive them warm but they help bring joy and put a smile on their faces.
The blankets are an essential part of the aid used by our Crisis Response Team and are given out to children and families they identify and start supporting amidst disasters. We always have a supply of blankets ready to go if the team are deployed. They are also used in our UK project Forget-Me-Notts during referrals. Every week our team goes out and builds beds for children who may not have one, or are sleeping on a damaged or broken one and we always take plenty of blankets with us to give to the children with their beds.
We’ve had some lovely blankets dropped off recently from some of our regular supporters, Chris and Dawn, the Nuthall Methodist Church, and The Cast Offs. It was so lovely to see the beautiful blankets they had created that we know will make such a difference to the children. Some of them also very generously took some squares we had had donated to put together into more lovely blankets for us! It is always so lovely to meet our supporters and crafters and hear all the stories behind the blankets!
Whilst we love meeting all our crafters, it’s also incredible to see how many blankets we get in the post and where they all come from, it’s amazing to see how many people across the country support us and the variety of designs we get is lovely. So, a huge thank you to everyone who sends the blankets in, we love to receive them and are so grateful for your generosity and hard work.
We were thrilled to have Joel pop into our office today. Joel comes by whenever he is in the area to bring blankets on behalf of Julia and the Loving Hands group all the way from Shetland!! We are so grateful to Joel for generously bring them so far whenever he is able and it’s incredible to have such ongoing support from Julia and the Loving Hands group from so far away! Thank you!
If you haven’t made blankets for us before and would like to, we are always so happy to receive them! We are looking for 6’ x 4’ blankets, to ensure they roughly fit a single bed and will be a good size for all the children we give them to. Blankets can then be posted to us or dropped off at our office. If you are posting them to us, please include your name and an email address or postal address because we would love to thank you for your amazing hard work! If you would like to drop off to our office, give us a call on 0115 896 9942 (option 1) to arrange a time! We always love meeting you and seeing your incredible work! If you have any questions, please give us a call or email our office at info@operation-orphan.org.
Once again, a huge thank you to everyone in our army of crafters! We are so grateful for the support and what you do makes such a difference to the children who receive your blankets! Thank you!
